Description

  • Game type: tank game. You play at the third person in three dimensions (FPS).
  • License: LGPL
  • Description: You, a tank. The others, other tanks. Very subjective 3D.

Installation

The game is installable as any other program. Debian offers the "bzflag" package for the program itself and the "bzflag-server" package for the server part. The configuration of such a server is not that easy. Read the official websites.

Connection configuration

  • The client must be able to go out through port 5154 using both TCP and UDP. The port may vary, depending on the server configuration. No inbound stream.
  • The server must accept the inbound connections towards its listening port - 5154 by default - and be able to go out using the port 80. The server registers itself at the server list, so that the players can find it.

Keys / Game strategy

As for chess, basic rules are simple:

  • The mouse makes the moves
  • [left clic] to fire
  • [TAB] to... jump!

Unlike other 3D games, jumping all the time is not required to stay alive. Furthermore, it's the best way to get killed. Beginners are known to behave as jumping rabbit, ready to be killed.

Actions take place in worlds. A server can host one or several worlds. The game is [b]real time[/n] and a chat is available. English is the most used language. As for IRC chats, operators can kick a disturbing player.
